Trombonist, educator, and conductor Bob Bennett (b. 1984) has performed throughout the United States, Canada, and Switzerland in cities such as Montreal, Chicago, Ottawa, New York, Annapolis, Albany, Cleveland, Quebec, Rochester, Zurich, Berne, and many others. As a trombonist, he currently performs as a freelance classical and jazz trombonist throughout Albany's Capital Region with such groups as Keith Pray's Big Soul Ensemble and The Static Port in addition to being an elementary band director in the Troy City Schools. Bennett has performed with such musicians as Hubert Laws, Gene Bertoncini, Byron Stripling, Stefon Harris, Bret Zvacek, and Ray Bennett, and additional professional credits include the Northern Symphonic Winds, Wally Siebel Big Band, Saratoga Polo Orchestra, NitroJive, and the Hackensack Men and the Trenton Horns. Bob has appeared as a guest conductor with the Crane Symphony Orchestra, Sachem East Wind Ensemble, Crane Youth Music Wind Ensemble, Crane Youth Music Jazz Ensemble, Potsdam Community Chorus, Crane Symphonic Band, Crane Jazz Band, and in Montreal with the Crane Trombone Ensemble. As an educator, Bennett has taught in many capacities in school districts in Albany, the Hudson Valley, and Long Island. Also, he has been on the faculty of the Crane Youth Music Summer Program, working with many ensembles of the camp. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and Tanglewood with the Empire State Youth Orchestra, toured Switzerland in 1999 with the Empire State Youth Jazz Ensemble, and has been a cover conductor for the Crane Wind Ensemble at the request of conductors Timothy Topolewski and Alan Woy. Bennett owns a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the Crane School of Music @ SUNY Potsdam. |
