Eric Binder was born in the Bronx, NY in 1989. Eric started playing drums at the age of 12 in the Mahopac Marching and Concert band. Eric began studying drumming seriously at the age of 17 after he moved to Albany, NY and began studying privately with David Calarco. Eric was involved in jazz band, concert band, all county jazz/concert band and NYSSMA in his high school years. After high school Eric spent 2 years at Schenectady County Community College (2007-2009) majoring in Music Performance. Eric then transferred to the College of St. Rose where he is currently majoring in Music Ed and minoring in Jazz Performance. At St. Rose Eric plays drums for the Jazz Ensemble and many other ensembles. Eric hopes to go to Julliard for his masters upon concluding at St. Rose. Eric has played with many local bands, musicians, ensembles and pit bands. He is comfortable playing any style. Eric also teaches at many local music stores. Eric is currently studying with David Calarco for drum set and Cliff Brucker for mallets and percussion. He has also studied with: Rocky Petrocelli, Joe Bonville, Tim Brehmer and Matt Dickson. |
