Jeremy is currently enrolled in the prestigious Jazz Studies Program at Purchase College Music Conservatory where he studies with Javon Jackson, Todd Coolman, Charles Blenzig, and Pete Malinverni among others. Jeremys experience has taken him from swing big bands to funk and from bebop to R&B. At school, his warm tenor saxophone tone and melodic ideas augment the sounds of Bigsby, an upcoming, talented funk group. While at home, Jeremy is working on carving himself a place in the capital region jazz scene. Jeremy was first drawn to jazz after hearing Joshua Redman's "Freedom In The Groove." Although Mr. Redman has remained a prominent influence to Jeremys playing, he has also studied the likes of Charlie Parker, Sonny Stitt, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Dexter Gordon, Bill Evans, Chris Potter, and many others. As a regular participant at the former Tuesday night jazz jam, Jeremy was also inspired by local saxophonist Brian Patneaude. |
