John McIntosh has been playing the guitar for over 40 years. His career began in his hometown of Buffalo, NY. His first introduction to music was in his church playing gospel music. During his early years, he played solely by ear. John says, "If I can hear it, I can play it on the guitar." He played behind numerous gospel singers and groups. His most memorable event was playing with James Celveland.

John's musical interest expanded during his college years. He began playing soul music, blues and jazz. After completing his degree at Buffalo State, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. During his tour in Germany, he joined a male gospel group where he played some very "funky" gosple music. They also performed weekly on the American Force Network Radio.

Once back in the states, John took formal music lessons and expanded his musical talents because of his excellent ear for music. He worked with various local groups as well as doing a solo act at hotel lounges, weddings, private parties and numerous political and social events.

Over the past years he has opened for jazz greats such as Will Donato on the Lake George Jazz Cruise and Blake Aaron at the Parker Inn. John has also played at Jazz on Jay, Hats Off at Saratoga, The Hudson Black Arts Festival, The Girlfriend's holiday event, The Albany Country Club, Proctors, the Music Haven Schenectady Central Park, Hamilton Hill Cultural Festival, Ramada Inn of Schenectady (70's sould night) and the Vale Park Music Festival of Schenectady, just to name a few.

In 2010 John signed with Myoho Jazz, an independent label committed to supporting artist visions and making them a reality.
