Kevin O'Connell was born in the Central New York town of Rome in 1989. He began playing percussion at the age of 10 and soon after, at the age of 12, began playing drumset professionally. Kevin became involved in world of pipe band drumming with the Mohawk Valley Frasiers and then later Syracuse Scottish Pipe band and most currently - Capitol Region Celtic.

Throughout high school, Kevin came across many opportunities while serving as the anchor for the YMCA (YCCA) Jazz and Wind Ensembles to work with a wide variety of musicians and groups such as The Yellowjackets, Dr. John, The Ellis Marsalis Trio, Maynard Ferguson, Marcus Roberts, Jane Monheit, The Brubeck Brothers Quartet, Leroy Jones, Sean Jones, The Jordan Family, Topsy Chapman, Doreen Ketchins, Ingrid Lucia, Amanda Shaw, Jason Marsalis, G. Calvin Weston, Alex Torres, Brian Patneaude, Bob Sheppard, The Syracuse Symphony and The Lomeo Brothers. Kevin has won countless awards at many different festivals and competitons, and led the Jazz Ensemble to gold medals in ten out of eleven local and national festivals since 2003; including Boston, Montreal and Ocean City. Kevin was also employed by the YMCA teaching private and group lessons on drumset, keyboard and multiple percussion, and also African hand drums. Kevin was named the '06-'07 student director and in the Spring of '07, The 2007 Student Musician of the Year.

Kevin has also studied with multiple numbers of instructors including Dom Famularo. In his Senior year of high school, he was chosen as a performer in the New York Conference All-State Symphonic Band. Kevin has expanded his work with currently being hired on many studio projects serving as head engineer and mix engineer. His latest work was done on "Anejo", Alex Torres y su Orquestra's 30th Anniversary Album. Kevin now attends the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY receiving a degree in Music Industry and is employed by Mike Seddon with Live Sound Inc.; Brunswick Recording as both a Live and Studio engineer.
