Marcus Benoit has been performing in the Capital Region since 1982. He composed music, played saxophone and flute for the Cole Broderick Quartet for 10 years, played saxophone for Cliff Avery's jazz/smooth jazz group Red Clay for a year, and prior to those gigs was part of a U.S. Air Force Field Band stationed in New Jersey. Marcus has led his own quartet at venues such as 9 Maple Ave. and the Van Dyck and is currently leading his own quartet or trio as well as playing keyboards and doing vocals for local R&R/Blues band Nite Train w the High Voltage horns. In recent years all of Marcus Benoit's focus has been on playing keyboards, writing and recording songs. He also is doing a collaborative effort with local saxophonist John Savage billed as Marcus Benoit with John Savage, a group that mixes Johns smooth jazz and fusion original music with Marcus Benoit's original songs. Marcus Benoit will be releasing a new CD entitled Let's Get Away in June of 2008. A collection of jazz based songs with lyrics that range from love to the metaphysical! |
