Ryan Sgroi grew up in Rome New York and began taking an interest in music at a very young age with the guitar. In elementary school Ryan started playing saxophone and studying privately with Donald Cantwell who received an award for best jazz educator by IAJE in 2008. In the fall of 1999 Ryan entered The College of St. Rose to study saxophone with Paul Evoskovich and earn a degree in music education. During this time he participated in many performing ensembles which included touring around the state of New York with the St. Rose Jazz ensemble. While attending graduate school and studying jazz in his own time, Ryan studied with New York City Saxophonist Mark Vinci. Ryan has worked with many different types of groups in the Capital District and the southern part of New York State performing all different types of music. He is currently working on the release of his first album while teaching and performing in the Capital District. |
